Deciding on an ERP investment is a difficult process. How did you decide to invest in ERP and did you encounter any difficulties in this process?
Our business is a medium-sized enterprise. While the business is small scale, you can easily reach many parts of the factory or people. However, as the factory and production grow and diversify, you lose control. Due to the problems arising from the lack of control, the losses reach very serious figures in terms of amount. After you decide to use ERP, it will become more important which ERP software you will continue with. Because once you start with a program, the whole business is built on that program and making a change again can cause much more serious problems. The ERP investment you will use should have a service and software infrastructure that is suitable for our sector, can fully meet our needs, and can meet all our future needs. Considering these factors, we evaluated all options and decided to start with the EDS, which we think is the most appropriate in every aspect.
How did you meet with EDS? Which features of EDS matched your expectations exactly and made you say yes?
We were meeting with many ERP software companies. However, the solutions they offered and the messages they gave were not at a level that would satisfy us for the future. We heard that one of the companies we know uses EDS and we wanted to listen to Enfotek like other ERP companies. The most important factor in choosing EDS was the perspective of the Enfotek team. I think the perspective of the people you will work with and their past experience and deeds are more important than the program. After seeing Enfotek's point of view and what it has done in the past, we decided to shape our future through EDS.
We know that the processes followed in your industry are difficult. What kind of standard or special applications were made in the EDS?
In general, EDS met our needs to a great extent. However, we wanted to control every point with EDS. Therefore, we have also developed special projects on the existing infrastructure together. I think that both we, Enfotek and other companies using EDS have benefited from this software.
One of the problems experienced in ERP Projects is user resistance. Have you ever encountered such resistance? What did you do to keep motivation high?
We really felt this resistance seriously. All employees, from top to bottom, complained that EDS was putting too much extra workload on them. Of course, this was when EDS was first implemented. Afterwards, prejudices began to decrease as we saw the gains brought by EDS. I can't say that the resistance has been reset, but as EDS starts to cover the whole business, the gains are seen more real. Therefore, I do not believe that this resistance will end before all processes in EDS are finished. In my opinion, the important thing is not that the employees adopt the EDS upon instruction, but that they willingly adopt the EDS as they see the benefits of the EDS itself, the business and the business they work for. A small example: In the past, preparing our case labels on the computer could take hours. When we said at the beginning that this would be done with a single click in EDS over time, our employees thought this as a dream. At the end of the process, people couldn't believe it when they saw the result of pressing the parcel labels with a single button. In my opinion, it is necessary to introduce the small miracles of EDS to people in order to increase the commitment and acceptance of employees to EDS.
What would you like to say about the consultancy services and project teams you received from Enfotek?
We are able to carry out a harmonious work in the joint projects we carry out with ENFOTEK. I can say that the interest of the Enfotek team in the event is at the level we want. Of course, in some newly added applications, there may be occasional deviations in time very rarely. As a result, since new applications are being worked on from scratch, deviations in these are actually normal. As I mentioned, the important thing is the team's interest and sensitivity to the work.
What has changed in your company with the EDS? What benefits did it provide?
The main benefit of ERP programs such as EDS is that managers can now access all kinds of information instantly without waiting for information from any unit and have an infrastructure to analyze them. For this reason, I think the most important part of EDS is the cockpit module, where managers can make visual analysis of all data.
Can you talk a little bit about what you plan to do in the coming days thanks to EDS?
In the following period, every part of our factory and our external units will progress through EDS. Our goal with EDS is to reach a point where, so to speak, even tea can be served over EDS.
How do you think ERP will contribute to a company that wants to grow and become a brand? What is its contribution to institutionalization?
Companies that want to institutionalize definitely need an ERP software. In this regard, my suggestion would be to prefer EDS, which meets all needs very flexibly.
So, what advice can you give to a company that has just started looking for a new ERP?
My advice to new companies is to examine at least five ERP programs closely. However, it is very difficult to perceive the practical success of ERP programs during the review phase. For this reason, they should also meet with businesses that use the program they have examined. In the selection of the most suitable ERP for their businesses, the most accurate information will be given by the businesses that use the programs.
