Fesih Demirer, the Founder and General Manager of FB Tekstil, which continues its production in İzmir and is one of the leading companies in the region, answered Enfotek's questions. Demirer said: “With EDS, it is ensured that all units can monitor and be aware of each other. While this increases efficiency, it also brings great convenience to the production stage. And when we have technical problems, we can get immediate support from Enfotek.”
Mr. Fesih, can we get to know you briefly?
Hello, my name is Fesih Demirer. I founded FB Tekstil in 1995 with my wife. Our journey, which started as a small workshop, continues today as one of the leading companies in Izmir.
What can you say about sectoral development based on your experience since 1995?
At the time we started our business, none of the current conditions existed. In terms of standardization, Turkey was gradually getting used to this sector. As a country, we learned about Ready-to-Wear by living. At the time we started, we were producing goods with high work efficiency. Since we were working with 50 percent efficiency, there were actually many losses. Therefore, in the crises experienced at certain intervals, there were serious contractions in the sector. The reason for this was inefficiency. Afterwards, with the inclusion of programs such as EDS in the sector, there were developments with technology and informatics, and this progress has been achieved and increased efficiency. While the costs have increased compared to 5 years ago, I can say that we have compensated the economic loss by increasing efficiency. The summary of the last year is that the manufacturing companies have improved their ability to increase their productivity.
So, what are the pleasant and difficult aspects of the Ready-to-Wear industry?
The most enjoyable part of this job is to provide employment and make production. Humanity is based on 3 things; clothing, shelter and food and drink. It gives us pleasure to do one of these 3 things. However, today, as the consumer society culture develops, some difficulties come with it; race against time, short-term production, etc. We overcome such difficulties with programs such as EDS. EDS helps us like following topics; being scheduled, controllable production process and price policy.
Speaking of EDS, FB Tekstil has been using EDS since 2008. Why did you choose EDS?
First of all, the fact that the founders of EDS were from Izmir was my primary reason for preference. The founders of EDS were our experienced friends who knew this industry and spoke the common language. I can say that our company has grown together with Enfotek. EDS had many competitors. There were those who tried on time, but the most important reason why EDS is permanent; It was created by people who know the business well.
What are the contributions of EDS to your business processes?
Since we are in a terrible competition, manufacturers must keep the margin of error at the lowest level. This is where we get a lot of help from EDS in planning and monitoring. The program helps you take a look at every step of the production process and contact with each other, while keeping track of business processes. All these contribute greatly to efficiency.
What would you say about the consultancy services of Enfotek?
As a company, I love Enfotek. Because we can provide direct access to people who know the business. When we have a problem, they get back to us in a short time. And they fix the problem. We can also exchange views with the founders.
FB Tekstil has been investing in ERP for many years. What advice would you give to the managers of companies that want to invest in ERP for a correct ERP installation?
Every company that wants to be competitive and permanent needs an ERP. It is no longer possible to continue this business with the traditional method. My advice to companies is, even if they are small scale, that they had better audit their business processes with an ERP program. Without ERP, it would be very difficult for a company to survive. It is very difficult to continue business processes with the logic of the 1980s-90s. In the world evolving by technology, the Ready-made Clothing industry has also changed a lot. In order to keep up with the times, it is necessary to facilitate processes and attach importance to sustainability. Companies are given new responsibilities such as the safety and quality of production and the importance they attach to social responsibility projects. You can get rid of this chaos only with a strong and fast ERP. It is much easier to progress with programs such as EDS in the computer age.
